Mission Trip to Ecuador
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20
It is interesting what happens when we take up the role of servant. As Mary Esther UMC’s Mission Team learned this summer, going forth to make disciples has a lasting effect not only on those you serve but also on ourselves.
Bobby B., Aubrey B., Caleb B., Jordan C., Jessica M., and Samantha R. set out for Santo Domingo on June 16, 2017, to meet Alabama-West Florida Conference Missionaries, Rev. Dan and Mrs. Lisa G. In addition to wonderful hospitality from the Godwins, our team had the blessing of meeting Lynn Haven UMC’s team and serve together. Instead of two teams, we were blessed to become one big team with a bigger heart to share with those encountered.
During the team’s trip, they hosted VBS over three days to approximately 100 kids through fun games and interesting Bible lessons. In addition to fun learning, our team put their muscles to work as they helped to finish a wall on the third floor of the United Methodist Church building within Santo Domingo.
